    Description

    1845 letter written and signed by William A. Thornton (1803-1866), who reached the rank of brevet brigadier general in the civil war as Inspector of Contract Arms and Ordnance.  Thornton also commanded the Watervliet arsenal.  He was an 1825 WP graduate.  Long letter to Major Baker at watervliet regarding military neesd; with docketing from Baker on the back with a shuggested response.  Neat military item.
