Description
1847 mexican war letter signed by Samuel Ryan Curtis (1805-1866), then an army colonel and later a civil war major general. He served in congress from Iowa 1857-61, then colonel of the 2nd Iowa and as brigadier general. He was largely responsible for the Union victory at Pea Ridge, leading to his promotion to major general. Letter from Saltillo, deals with hospital supplies.
