1958 Chevrolet 3100 Apache 1/2 Ton Big Window Short Bed Stepside Pick UpFor sale is a stunning 1958 Chevrolet 3100 Apache 1/2-ton Big Window Stepside Pickup, finished in Jade Mist metallic and white. Interior is done in gray with new bucket seats and center jump seat with cup holders from a new Chevy Silverado. This pickup is a head turner for sure and a joy to drive! A full restoration with a partial frame off except cab was performed in 2018. A new big-window and windshield were installed.
Fender badging is from a ’59. All new bed tins, fenders, all panels, tail gate, steps, and a new Gaylord’s bed lid painted to match. Beautifully refinished oak-wood in the bed fitted with new stainless-steel slats and attaching hardware. Gas tank filler on cab was welded shut and new gas tank located under bed. The factory color was Tartan Turquoise (Code 710A), so I decided to stay in the spirit of a green and picked this
Jade Mist
color. The chrome bumpers, grille, emblems, and stainless-steel pieces are in excellent condition throughout. New powder coated red Smoothie wheels by Wheel Vintiques with chrome hub caps with classic red block lettering, wrapped with Coker American Classic wide-whitewall tires. Sports its original straight axle front end. Power steering and front disc brake conversion makes this beauty drive like dream.
The interior is eye-catching! Custom made door panels and headliner stamped with bowtie, body-colored dash with satin white painted dash top, original speedo gauge & new chrome knobs/switches, new AM/FM digital radio with Bluetooth & four new speakers, Pioneers in kick panel and 6X9’s in rear cab corners, recently added a new sub-woofer, new American Auto Wire custom wiring harness, chrome column shift tilt-steering column with 14” full wrap Banjo style billet leather wrapped steering wheel, Auto Meter under dash gauges complete with clock, working electric windshield wipers, and new carpeting throughout too include back of cab. Under dash heater and core restored.

Under the hood is a fully restored and detailed engine compartment with a 307 cubic inch motor and TH350 automatic transmission from a 1971 Chevy C10 truck. Features include a newly rebuilt top engine rebuild.
New water pump, Polished Hilborn Style Finned Aluminum Hood Scoop with K&N filter, new Lokar throttle and transmission kickdown cables and brackets, new Lokar throttle pedal, power steering conversion, 2-disc firewall brake booster, front disc brake conversion, new power steering gear box, new radiator, electric fan with bypass switch, hoses, battery, cables, etc. The 307 ci motor is secured with side and front motor mounts, 10-bolt rear-end. A new rear-frame mounted 16-gallon fuel tank was installed with new fuel pump & sender, new brakes (front & rear) w/ new wheel cylinders, new rear axle bearings & seals, new front & rear shock absorbers.

Body/Paint:
The cab and front end is all original steel except a few small patch panels in lower cab corners, lower rear right fender, bottoms of both doors both interior/exterior and bottoms replaced. The body was stripped to bare metal and repaired as aforementioned in a few areas. The body is very straight. The complete bed is all new tins. New hood hinges.

Electrical:
Retro blue dot front halogen headlights with a diamond cut feature. Rebuilt electric wiper system, heavy duty headlight harness to support four halogen headlights and new American Auto Wire wiring harness.
Electric fan relay with 210/190 thermostat, new thermostat bypass switch located under dash by toggle switch for those just in case moments if you know what I mean. Working dome light, controlled by under dash toggle switch. Vintage style back-up (reverse lights). New 150-amp Powermaster alternator. New NAPA Legend battery.
Interior:
Very nice and clean looking interior. 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 40/20/40 split-bench front seat, driver’s seat is electric and equipped with electric lumbar. 4-speaker AM/FM stereo with blue tooth in the style of a ’67 Pontiac GTO reproduction radio, in chrome and looks great!
Chrome tilt column & shift, Auto Meter gauge package under dash, Banjo style full wrap steering wheel,
chrome vent grilles-older chrome finish, kept with the current patina. Both door vent windows, door felts, and seals replaced.
Exterior:
U-Haul trailer hitch. New leather tailgate chain covers. All new weather stripping. New Gaylord’s bed cover, fiberglass, gas shock, and dual locks. Under bed fuel tank with fuel fill behind hinged license plate above rear bumper. Stock fuel filler was welded
closed on cab as these trucks came with the fuel tank behind the seat in the cab of the truck.

Drive Train:
TH 350 auto trans. new tranny oil pan, new speedo drive gear and gasket, locking dip stick. New transmission cooling lines plumbed directly to new radiator. New u-joints and driveshaft yoke. 10 bolt rear differential, rear pinion seal replaced, and differential serviced. New transmission cross member recently added.
Engine:
The engine is a 307 V-8 with a displacement of 5.0 liters, or 307 cubic inches. The engine uses a bore and stroke of 3.875 inches by 3.25 inches. The compression ratio is 9-to-1, maximum brake horsepower of 200 at 5,800 RPMs stock. Great oil pressure with a reliable range of 30 to 40 psi. New Edelbrock E-Street aluminum cylinder heads, New Melling rocker arms, ball and nut, New Edelbrock Performer EPS intake manifold and Edelbrock 650 cfm carburetor.
New Melling M-Select Class 1 camshaft MTC-1 Advertised Duration: 278 int./288 exh, Duration at 050-inch Lift: .204 int./214 exh, New Edelbrock Chromoly pushrods, New ACDelco hydraulic lifters, New Melling timing chain and gear set, new timing cover, and one-piece oil pan gasket.
Dress up kit with chrome Edelbrock valve covers, Edelbrock fuel pump, Summit Racing electronic billet aluminum distributor. MSD ignition coil, and NGK spark plug cables.
Engine compartment is very nice. Simple and clean pulley system. Aluminum radiator with thermostat controlled electric puller fan, runs cool. Fan relay, Fan on Temperature (F): 210 Degrees On/190 Degrees Off. New polished aluminum radiator overflow tank.
Suspension:
Front dual-flex lowered 3-inch springs, New Western Classics shock absorbers, front lowered, nitro slammers. New power steering gear box. Front frame horns were repaired; the left horn was cut and new one sectioned in and right side was straightened. Bright work: All restored and beautiful. Glass: All glass replaced except door windows. Added Power steering conversion.
Exhaust:
New Ram Horn exhaust manifold center dump, 2.5 pipes and Flow Master mufflers.
Brakes:
Front Power Disc brakes. Drums rear. All new brake lines.
Wheels & Tires:
Wheel Vintiques 12 Series Smoothie in red powder coat, rears are 15X8/ 6X5.5 bolt pattern/ 4” backspace, fronts are 15X6/ 6X5.5 bolt pattern/ 3-5/8” backspace. Tires are Coker American Classic Radial Wide White Walls, fronts are 205/75R 15 and the rears are 235/75R 15.
Summary:
Like I said before this truck is stunning and underwent a high-quality restoration with a lot of attention from fit to finish in every detail. It is in like new condition. Very nice truck. Actual mileage is unknown.
