Description
Maker and age: This delightful centerpiece or divided serving dish has a green "Prov Saxe" backstamp, a mark of Germany's incomparable porcelain maker Erdmann Schlegelmilch, the company founded by Leonard Schlegelmilch and named after his father. This mark came into use on May 16, 1902. Founded in 1861, the factory ceased production in 1937.
Design
: The lovely white and blue fine porcelain dish is divided into three sections, highlighted by delicate pink roses in swags and encircled in raised gold. Charming blue bows accent the dish.
The pattern number 149/2159 appears on the base.
Size
: The dish is 10 1/4 inches wide and 1 3/8 inches tall. The handle adds 2 inches to the height. It weighs 1 pound 3 ounces.
Condition
: It has no nicks, chips, scratches, repairs or crazing. There is some wear to the edges and handle and a small old crack that can be seen on both sides but is more prominent from the reverse. The wear and the crack are shown in the photos with the penny.
This beautiful dish would make a wonderful centerpiece or great addition to any collection of Schlegelmilch or other fine china.
Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
