Description
Two Dollar commemorative of the Battle of Vimy Ridge fought in1917 during WW I,the reverse shows a World War one soldier to the left being saluted by an modern soldier to the right,
separated by a memorial of the battle. new coin design above shows a maple leaf as a security measure.
the front of the coin shows the current picture of Queen Elizabeth II
This is a Bi metallic coin the outer ring is three-ply nickel finish plated steel,
inner core is brass plated aluminum bronze. 28 mm in size,
the edge is interrupted serrations. mintage is only 10,000,
not released for circulation but only available from the mint in rolls or part of an annual set.
The Battle of Vimy ridge fought in the spring of 1917, the Allies launched a new offensive on the Western Front,
where all four divisions of the Canadian Corps were ordered to capture the heavily fortified Vimy Ridge.
For the first time ever, regiments from all across Canada fought side-by-side to secure victory using an innovative tactic known as a creeping
barrage
