    Description

    Age and maker
    : This rare 8 1/2 inch plate is by Germany's incomparable maker E.S. Prussia, the company founded by Leonard Schlegelmilch and named after his father, Erdmann. Founded in 1861, E.S. Prussia ceased production in 1937. Long thought to be associated with R.S. Prussia, the company is now believed to have been R.S. Prussia's main competitor.
    The very early green E.S. Prussia decorator's mark that appears on this plate was in use between 1900 and 1918. The spelling "Prufsia" reflects the double S in old German writing.
    Condition
    : The plate is in very good condition with no cracks, nicks, scratches, repairs or crazing. There is some wear to the edges; that's shown in the photos with the penny.
    This lovely plate would make a great addition to any collection of Schlegelmilch or other fine china.
